Pathways to excellence in research-based training on sports performance
and physical activity for health.

Innovation and Training: JMU, a Leader in Sport and Health

Jean Monnet University enjoys strong international recognition for its innovative research on sports performance and the relationship between physical activity and health. Our approach is based on rich interdisciplinary collaboration between medical and health sciences, sports sciences, and materials science and engineering. In this field, we also benefit from an exceptional range of facilities and technical platforms, unmatched at the European level.

JMU also offers a wide range of high-level training programmes in this field, with several master's specialisations in health sciences and sports sciences, as well as doctoral programmes in these areas. These programmes are now brought together under the Graduate School PATHS. Its goal is to enhance the visibility of our programmes, make them more attractive, and develop synergies and collaborations, particularly at the international level and within excellence programmes.

Missions

The Graduate School PATHS is a unifying framework, providing support for programmes and departments, research teams, thesis supervisors, as well as our master's students and doctoral candidates. Our missions:

02

03

Attractiveness

Enhance our attractiveness and scholarship offerings, and facilitate the reception and integration of international students.
04

Funding

Support funding acquisition and the implementation of projects.

Tailored Support with the Graduate School PATHS

The Graduate School PATHS will provide support tailored to each individual's needs:

  • For students, PATHS offers excellence scholarships, supports applications for study or international mobility grants, facilitates transitions between programmes, and enables the creation of personalised study paths, joint PhD supervision, dual-degree programmes, and joint programmes.
  • For faculty and researchers, PATHS provides support in securing funding and developing international partnerships. PATHS can assist in the creation of new training programmes and serve as a partner in promoting individual activities.
  • For professionals, PATHS supports the development of tailored continuing education programmes and fosters collaboration opportunities.
  • For the university and its departments, PATHS is a development partner that enhances national and international visibility, attracting more high-calibre candidates and strengthening the excellence of our programmes.

PATHS will contribute to the dynamism of the field by organising thematic schools, creating events, and inviting influential figures in movement sciences, training, and exercise-based health. This momentum will benefit the university, as well as Saint-Étienne and its region, along with local and regional businesses and economic partners in our sector.
